Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel’s father Ajaybhai Bipinchandra passed away on September 26, the wicketkeeper informed via his Twitter account.
"It is with the deepest grief and sadness, we inform the passing away of my father Mr. Ajaybhai Bipinchandra Patel. He left for his heavenly abode on 26th September 2021. We request you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in peace. Om Namah Shivay," tweeted Patel.
Former Indian cricketers and teammates offered their condolences on Twitter to Gujarat-born cricketer. Sachin Tendulkar wrote in a tweet, "May your father's soul rest in peace @parthiv9! My heartfelt condolences to your entire family in this time of grief."
Other cricketers who offered condolences include Irfan Pathan, Dinesh Karthik, Wasim Jaffer, Priyank Panchal, Abhinav Mukund, Pragyan Ojha, RP Singh and others.
The left-handed batter took retirement from all forms of cricket last year. He has played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and 2 T20Is in his career and scored 10 half-centuries. His last Indian Premier League (IPL) season was for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2019 where he scored 373 runs from 14 games including two half-centuries.
