Gujarat spinner Siddharth Desai picked up nine wickets against Uttrakhand during round 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 at the Gujarat College Cricket Ground A in Ahmedabad. That was the best spell ever bowled by a Gujarat bowler in first-class cricket.
The left-arm spinner ended the innings picking up nine wickets and conceding 36 runs, with this he broke Jasubhai Motibhai Patel’s record of 8-21 set during the 1960-61 season against Saurashtra. Vishal B was the other bowler who claimed 10th wicket for Gujarat as Uttrakhand was bundled out on just 111 runs.
Siddharth’s first wicket came in the fifth over when he picked up Priyanshu Khanduri on the third ball of the fifth over. His nine-wicket haul began with that he quickly sent P S Khanduri, Samarth R, and Yuvrah Choudhary back to the dugout in the space of four deliveries.

Apart from Siddharth Desai, Indian cricketers who are the part of Champions Trophy 2025 squad failed to perform with the bat. India captain Rohit Sharma who was featured for Mumbai after more than a decade dismissed scoring just three runs. Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring four runs. Apart from Gill and Rohit, Yashavi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant also failed to score runs in in Ranji Trophy comeback.
