Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner, Rashid Khan reclaimed the no.1 ODI bowler spot on the back of stellar performances in the recently-concluded ODI series against Bangladesh to complete cleansweep. Rashid jumped five places to leave behind South Africa's Keshav Maharaj, Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana, England's Jofra Archer, India's Kuldeep Yadav and Namibia's Bernard Scholtz to get to the summit.
Rashid's teammate, Azmatullah Omarzai jumped 19 places to take the 21st place after claiming seven wickets in the ODI series against Bangladesh. He was lethal with the new ball, getting early breakthroughs for Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan.
Omarzai on top in all-rounder rankings
Omarzai reclaimed top spot in ICC ODI all-rounder rankings. He took the top spot from Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza. Rashid went up two places to take fourth place in the all-rounder rankings.
Zadran in 2nd spot after two 95s
Afghanistan's opening batter Ibrahim Zadran made a huge jump of eight places to take the second spot on ICC ODI rankings. He registered scores of 95 in consecutive ODIs against Bangladesh. Ahead of Rashid, he was named ‘Player of the series’ as batting wasn’t easy on wickets in UAE. He rued missing a ton in the third ODI as he was run out trying to sneak a quick single.
“It hurt me a lot (on missing out on the hundred), but my focus on trying to give my 100 percent for the team. Whenever we (with Gurbaz) bat together, we trust each other and back each other. We enjoy batting a lot. I was trying to execute whatever I learnt from the practice and tried to apply myself,” Zadran said in the post-match presentation.
Kuldeep rises, Jaiswal in top 5
Left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav claimed 12 wickets in the two-Test series. He went up seven places to take 14th position in ICC Test bowler rankings. There were no changes in top 10 and Jasprit Bumrah continued to remain on top.
After a 175-run knock in the second Test against Roston Chase-led side, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal entered the top five. He went past South Africa's injured captain Temba Bavuma and Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis.
