Namibia are scheduled to host Indian domestic team, Assam for a five-match One-Day series which is slated to kick off from June 21. Notably, Riyan Parag is poised to captain the Assam side in this upcoming contest against Namibia. This historic Namibia versus Assam series is anticipated to provide valuable exposure and opportunities for emerging cricket talents from both nations to showcase their skills on an international platform.

Riyan Parag to lead Assam in Namibia tour

After leading Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025, Riyan Parag will now be seen leading a well-rounded Assam squad, which blends both youthful enthusiasm and seasoned experience. The team's roster includes prominent players such as Denish Das, Akash Sengupta, and Parvej Musaraf, all of whom have demonstrated consistent performances in various domestic cricket competitions.

Meanwhile, Gerhard Erasmus will lead Namibia side which will be bolstered by the presence of accomplished all-rounders like JJ Smit and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton. Namibia is preparing to welcome the Assam Cricket Association for a five-match 50-over series, with all the games scheduled to take place at the FNB Cricket Ground in Windhoek. Notably, Namibian team has prior experience playing against Indian domestic sides, having recently hosted similar one-day series against Punjab and Karnataka.

Talking about the schedule, the one-day matches between Assam and Namibia will be played on June 21, June 23, June 25, June 27 and June 29 respectively.

Demonstrating his leadership capabilities, the all-rounder also stepped in to captain the side in a few instances when the regular skipper, Sanju Samson, was unavailable due to injury concerns.

One of Parag's standout performances in the IPL 2025 came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he played a sensational innings, smashing 95 runs off a mere 45 deliveries. This included a remarkable feat of hitting five sixes in a single over, showcasing his power-hitting prowess.
