Cricket is one of the most followed sport in India and we often witness new records in this game. Some records are such that they are broken within a few days or hours of being made. But in the many years old history of cricket, some records are still recorded as records and many great players have not been able to break them. Including Brian Lara's 400-run Test innings and Rohit Sharma's 264-run ODI innings. Here are the top 10 records in cricketing history which will not break anytime soon.

Muttiah Muralitharan - 800 Test wickets

Sri Lanka's legendary off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan made batters dance with his spin bowling on pitches all over the world. The result of this was that Muralitharan's record of 800 wickets in Test cricket could hardly be broken. James Anderson did cross the 700 mark but he too has retired from Test cricket and could take only 704 wickets in total. While Shane Warne has 708 wickets to his name and Anderson remained four steps behind Warne's record.

Brian Lara - Test innings of 400 runs

Former West Indies left-handed batter Brian Lara holds the world record of playing the biggest innings in Test cricket. Lara played a marathon innings of 400 runs in a Test match and batters like Matthew Hayden could reach close to this but could not break Lara's record. Therefore, this record of Lara is still established as a record.

Sir Donald Bradman - Test average of 99.94

Former Australian Sir Donald Bradman, who was also known as Don Bradman, added to the glory of the game of cricket. He has the highest average of 99.94 in Test cricket. To achieve an average of 100 in Tests, he had to score only 4 runs in the last innings but he got out on zero and missed the average of 100.

Chaminda Vaas - Best ODI Spell

Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas took eight wickets for just 19 runs in an ODI against Zimbabwe in 2001. This record of his remains intact in ODI cricket till date. No bowler has been able to break this record till date.

Rohit Sharma - Biggest ODI Innings

India's Hitman Rohit Sharma has scored not one but three double centuries in ODIs. Rohit holds the world record of highest innings of 264 runs in ODI cricket. This record of Rohit may also be broken by any batsman in ODI cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar - Most International Matches

Sachin Tendulkar, also known as the God of Cricket, holds the record of playing the most international matches in international cricket. Sachin played 664 international matches including Tests and ODIs during his 24-year career and is on the first position. After this, Virat Kohli has 533 international matches registered in his name and let's see whether he is able to break this record in the coming time or not.

Jim Laker - 19 wickets in a Test match

England's dashing bowler Jim Laker has a record of taking 19 wickets in both innings of a Test match. Laker did this feat against Australia in 1956. In this way, no one has been able to break this record of Laker till now.

No one like Australia

The Australian team has made a record of registering 21 consecutive ODI wins in the 21st century so far. Australia won the first match against England on 11 January 2023, after which till 24 May 2023, they registered their 21st consecutive ODI win against West Indies.

An over of 17 balls to the name of a Pakistani bowler

In an ODI match against Bangladesh in 2004, Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Sami bowled a terrifying over of 17 balls. His infamous over included 7 wides and 4 no-balls. Thus, it seems impossible that any bowler would want to bowl an over of 18 balls.

Nightwatchman hits a double in Test

In Test cricket, a bowler is sent to the field as a nightwatchman to keep the batsmen safe at the end of the day. But in 2006, when Australia's Jason Gillespie was sent as a nightwatchman, he surprised everyone by playing an unbeaten innings of 201 runs. In this way, hardly any bowler can hit a double in Test cricket as a nightwatchman. This record of his is also going to remain forever.
