India Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma is set to feature in the Ranji Trophy for the first time since 2015 after being named in Mumbai's 17-man squad for their upcoming clash with Jammu and Kashmir which is scheduled to start from January 23. Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal is also part of the squad.
Ajinkya Rahane will lead Mumbai as they face Jammu and Kashmir at the MCA-BKC Ground.
Rohit is currently going through a lean patch in Tests, the India Test captain was seen struggling against Australia in the five-Test match series where he just scored 31 runs in three Test matches as India suffered a 1-3 series defeat.
After failing to perform in three Tests, Rohit decided to opt out from the final Test of the series and in his absence, Bumrah captained the side. The move led to speculations over the seasoned campaigner’s Test future which he allayed during an interview, saying he’s not going anywhere.

After the Ranji outing, Rohit is set to lead India in the ODI series against England and after that, he will lead the side in the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to start from February 19. India will play all their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai.
