Rohit likely to participate in ODI series against Australia in October

India ODI captain Rohit Sharma will be uindergoing fitness tests at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. This comes ahead of the Men in Blue's tour of Australia where they will be playing a three-match ODI and T20I series. Rohit is expected to feature in the one-day assignment which will commence from October 19. 

If Rohit does end up playing for India in the ODI series, then it will be his first competitive assignment since IPL 2025 where he featured for the Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, the 38-year-old's last international appearance came in the ICC Champions Trophy final where he played a robust knock of of 76 to guide India to the title over New Zealand.

Rohit to soon visit the CoE in Bengaluru

According to a report by The Times of India, Rohit will be soon undergoing a fitness assessment at BCCI's CoE. The report also stated that the Bronco test will also be included in the assessment so that the batter can prove his fitness to the selectors. Rohit is expected to stay at the CoE for 2-3 days and will also be participating in practice sessions.

“Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI’s CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two-three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November," TOI quoted a source as saying.

“With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility," the source added.

Meanwhile, following the Australia ODIs series, India will also be locking horns against South Africa in the same format in November. With both Rohit and Virat Kohli only active as players in one-day cricket, it is expected that these two series will be the only times when the duo will be seen playing for the national team this year.
