Former India's star wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is happy with Team India's current reign of dominance following their Champions Trophy 2025 title triumph. Karthik talked about Team India's remarkable consistency which saw them clinching back-to-back ICC titles under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

Karthik believes that the current Indian team possesses limitless potential, attributing much of their success to Rohit Sharma's exemplary leadership. He said that the immense respect Rohit commands from his teammates, noting how he embodies the aggressive and fearless brand of cricket that has propelled India to the pinnacle of the sport. This leadership style, according to Karthik, has been instrumental in fostering a winning culture within the team.

Moreover, Karthik pointed to the Team India's exceptional depth as a key factor in their continued success. He asserted that very few nations can boast the luxury of multiple squads capable of competing at the highest level of international cricket. This abundance of talent not only ensures a strong bench but also allows India to maintain a consistent level of performance.

“In the past nine months, this Indian team has won two massive competitions (T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy). So, I think the sky's the limit for them because they are led by a very able leader in Rohit Sharma. You can see that he’s got the respect of his peers. Most importantly, he walks the walk and talks the talk about how cricket needs to be played,” Karthik said at RCB Innovation Labs, Indian Sports Summit.

Karthik, in particular, has highlighted the stark contrast between India's situation and that of most other cricketing nations. He observed that while many countries struggle to assemble a single team capable of consistently challenging top international sides, India possesses a wealth of talent that enables them to create several formidable teams. This exceptional depth, he suggests, is a significant advantage, ensuring that India remains a powerful force in international cricket regardless of player availability or rotation.

“The beauty of this Indian team is the strength and depth that they have in terms of the number of players that they've got. Not many countries today can say that they can field two or three teams in international cricket and have them competing with each other,” Karthik concluded.

Talking about Rohit's captaincy, he has placed him in an elite category, second only to MS Dhoni, as he has successfully led India to ICC title in both the ODI and T20I formats. His notable achievements include winning the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 titles.

Across all formats, Rohit Sharma has captained India in a total of 142 matches, and has been part of 103 wins and 33 losses. His record includes three drawn matches and two matches that resulted in no outcome.

In the ODI format specifically, Rohit has guided India to 42 wins out of 56 matches, resulting in 12 losses. This impressive record translates to a win percentage of 74.54 per cent.

Furthermore, Rohit has captained India in 24 Test matches. In these matches, he has achieved 12 victories while facing defeat in nine, showcasing his ability to lead the team in the longer format of the game as well.
