Former India cricket Rudra Pratap Singh's son and star Lancashire batter Harry Singh shone bright with the bat in the County One-Day Cup but sadly ended up on the losing side. Harry Singh cracked his maiden fifty in the County One-Day Cup, but his impressive performance wasn't enough to secure a win for his team in the clash against Sussex. Lancashire ultimately fell to a one-wicket defeat against Sussex at Hove. Harry is the son of former Indian cricketer RP Singh, who featured for India in two ODIs in the 1980s.

Batting first, Lancashire got off to a strong start with an impressive 157-run opening partnership between Michael Jones and George Bell. After finding themselves at 186/3, a solid 51-run fourth-wicket partnership between skipper Marcus Harris and Harry Singh helped stabilise the innings. After Harris's dismissal, Singh continued to build crucial partnerships, first adding 47 runs with George Balderson and then 30 with Ollie Sutton for the fifth and seventh wickets, respectively. Singh was eventually dismissed by Henry Crocombe after scoring 71 runs off just 64 balls, a knock that included five fours and four sixes. He had reached his half-century earlier in the innings, taking 44 deliveries to reach the milestone.

Before his recent breakthrough innings, Harry Singh's highest score in the One-Day Cup was just 33, a personal best he had set in the 2024 season. His impressive knock of 74 from 61 balls is now his highest List A score. Harry comes from a cricketing family, his father, Rudra Pratap Singh, was a former Indian pacer who opened the bowling with Kapil Dev in two ODIs against Australia in 1986. Harry's sister, Anjalie, is also a cricketer, having played T20s for Lancashire and List A cricket for Cumbria. In addition to his batting performance, Harry also contributed with the ball, bowling six overs of off-breaks for only 18 runs.

The successful chase of 339 by Sussex marks a new record for the team. Their previous highest chase was 332 against Kent in 2017, a target they managed to reach in under 48 overs.
