Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India's T20I squad for 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be leading the second string squad as the senior side will be busy in ODI World Cup 2023 preparations.
Rinku Singh has finally earned T20I call-up after scintillating performances in the middle-order for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Similarly, Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has been included in the 15-member squad. Another PBKS wicketkeeper-batter in the squad is opener Prabhsimran Singh.
Young Tamil Nadu-born batter Sai Sudharsan who proved his prowess in IPL 2023 for Gujarat Titans (GT) with a record-breaking 96-run knock in the final has been kept in the list of standbys.
The men's competition will commence on September 28th and will be played till October 8.
The last time India's men's team participated in Asian Games was in 2014.
