India's batting great Sachin Tendulkar gave a glimpse of his old days' cricket wizardry when he took the field again. Tendulkar, who is celebrated for his 24-year-long illustrious cricketing career, recently returned to the field at the age of fifty during the 'One World vs One Family' match. Leading the One World team, he scored a blistering 27 runs off 16 balls, exhibiting that his batting still retains its flair and class.

Tendulkar, who belted 100 centuries in his cricketing career, was dismissed by the legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner and his old rival Muttiah Muralitharan. Attempting a shot towards long-on, he was caught by his former teammate Mohammad Kaif, reigniting the storied rivalry between Muralitharan and Tendulkar. Additionally, Tendulkar also claimed a wicket with his bowling.

 

 

The One World One Family Cup features renowned players such as Muttiah Muralitharan, Yuvraj Singh, Chaminda Vaas, Mohammad Kaif, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, among others. The tournament is taking place at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Sai Gramam, Bengaluru.


The team led by Yuvraj Singh, One Family, managed to score 180/6 in their first innings. Darren Maddy was the top scorer for his team, hitting 51 runs off 41 balls. Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh accelerated the innings, contributing 38 and 23 runs, respectively. For One World, RP Singh and Harbhajan Singh each took 2 wickets. Monty Panesar, Irfan Pathan, Ajantha Mendis, and team captain Sachin Tendulkar each claimed a wicket.

 

In the chase, Naman Ojha and Sachin Tendulkar opened with a partnership of 31 runs, with Ojha departing after scoring 25 runs from 18 balls. Tendulkar was the next to be dismissed, scoring 27 runs. However, Alviro Petersen played a crucial knock of 74 runs from 50 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Upul Tharanga also made a significant contribution with 29 runs off 20 balls.

Needing 17 runs in the final two overs, Irfan Pathan displayed exceptional batting prowess. He reduced the requirement to 7 runs from the final over and then hit a powerful six down the ground, securing a comfortable 4-wicket victory for One World.

For the One Family team, Chaminda Vaas claimed 3 wickets, while Jason Krejza, Yuvraj Singh, and Muttiah Muralitharan each took 1 wicket.
