The wife of India's skipper Rohit Sharma, Ritika Sajdeh, has lashed out at media houses for sharing photos and videos of Rishabh Pant after the wicketkeeper-batter suffered a major accident early on Friday (December 30) morning.
Ritika deemed such coverage of the news as an act of 'insensitivity.' Sharing a story on Instagram, she wrote, “Shame on you for posting images and videos of someone who’s hurt and unable to decide whether or not they want that out there. They have family and friends who were terribly affected by these images. There’s journalism, and then there is just plain insensitivity.”
After the news of his accident, images and videos of Pant at the site of the accident, in his hospital bed, and his car up in flames went viral on the internet.
According to the information accessed by Sports Tak, Rishabh Pant was travelling from Delhi to Roorkee in his BMW car when he met with an accident at the Narsan border near Mohammadpur Jhal. The Indian cricketer was first admitted to Roorkee's Saksham Hospital and then taken to Dehradun. Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar revealed what Pant told him during their brief conversation.
In a conversation with Sports Tak, Uttarakhand DGP said that he spoke to Pant when the Indian cricketer was admitted to the hospital. Pant told Ashok Kumar that he was travelling from Delhi to Roorkee when he felt sleepy in the morning while driving the car and crashed into the divider. The Indian cricketer then revealed that he broke the windscreen to come out of the car.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement and shed light on the numerous injuries sustained by Pant.
"Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back," BCCI said in a release.
"Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment," the statement added.
