Former Pakistan opening batter Ahmed Shehzad slammed Shan Masood-led side after their embarrassing loss against England in the first Test match at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. This Test was Pakistan's sixth consecutive defeat under Shan Masood's captaincy. He was appointed Pakistan's red-ball captain after Babar Azam stepped down from all forms of captaincy.

Pakistan cricket team are currently on their lowest since 2022 T20 World Cup final. They faced their biggest defeat in the T20 World Cup 2024 where a non-Test playing nation USA defeated them in the opener clash of the marquee event. They recently lost a first-ever Test series against Bangladesh.

Masood-led Pakistan became the first team in the history of Test cricket to lose a red-ball match after posting 550-plus score in their first attempt.

Following the defeat, out of favour batter, Shehzad took a dig at the Pakistan team for their lack of motivation that led to a shambolic performance. He suggested a remedy for the lack of motivation by urging the players to watch 'Lagaan' where a team of Indian villagers defeated England to avoid tax for three years.

"For motivation I suggest Pakistan team should watch Lagaan movie. The issue is that in the movie they had to pay it from their pockets. But you don't have to do this, Pakistan Cricket Board has to do it," Shehzad said on his YouTube channel.

After the loss now there are reports that Shan Masood will likely to be sacked from the captaincy because of the team's poor outing in red-ball cricket and Babar Azam will most likely to be benched for the second Test match.

England are scheduled to play three Test match series against Pakistan and the second Test match will start from October 15 to 19 at the same venue.
