The entire cricketing fraternity is yet to recover from the shock of Shane Warne's untimely death due to suspected heart attack on Friday (March 4). Director of the Thai International hospital where Australian cricketer Shane Warne was last treated before being pronounced dead said he believed he passed away before he arrived at the hospital.
"The patient was intubated. We continued to resuscitate and provide CPR for 45 minutes. The doctor on duty concluded that the patient had passed before arriving at the hospital," Dulyakit Wittayachanyapong, medical director of Thai International Hospital, said.
Fox Sports television quoted a family statement as saying Warne died of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Warne worked as a commentator for Fox Sports. The statement said, "Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and ... could not be revived." "After the hospital was contacted by the hotel, we sent an emergency medical team to assist the patient at the premise. We received the call around 4.40 p.m. and the team arrived around 5 pm," Wittayachanyapong said.
"There were people who were with him and rescue workers already performing the CPR. Our team continued to provide the CPR there and during transportation to the hospital. We continued to resuscitate and provide CPR for 45 minutes," he added.
Earlier, the Thailand Police after a brief search at the residence have confirmed that there is no as such suspected foul play at Warne's villa following his demise. He was at a villa in Koh Samui on the Thai island, where he was found unresponsive.
Warne was found unconscious by three of his friends, who were staying in the same villa. While they tried to revive him, they were unsuccessful. He was immediately taken to a hospital by ambulance. Still, the medical personnel too failed to revive him, while he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, confirmed Bo Put police's Chatchawin Nakmusik, as per Reuters.
The spin wizard was on a fitness journey 'Operation shred'. Warne had recently revealed his plans that he wished to accomplish by July.

Warne was named as one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Century, claimed 708 Test wickets in a 15-year career between 1992 and 2007. He was also a World Cup winner with Australia in 1999.
