India star batter Rohit Sharma took to social media and shared a story on Instagram which once again sparked speculations regarding his retirement. He posted a photo of his on the Sydney airport and captioned it as, “One last time, signing off from Sydney." This left fans wondering whether Rohit dropped a hint regarding his retirement through this post or not.
Rohit's fabulous batting display against Australia
This post comes after he played a sensational knock of 121* against Australia in the third and final ODI of the series held at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday. This inning massively helped the Men in Blue in recording a comprehensive victory by 9 wickets and they went on to avoid a series whitewash due to this result.
Meanwhile, after carrying India to victory in the third ODI, Rohit had remarked that even though he loves playing in Australia, there is no guarantee as to if both him and Virat Kohli will be coming back for a white-ball tour to the country again.
“Always love coming here and playing here. Fond memories of 2008. I’m not sure if we’ll be coming back to Australia, but we enjoy our cricket no matter what accolades we achieve," Rohit said after the match.
“You expect tough pitches and quality bowlers in Australia. Playing here is never easy. We couldn’t win the series, but there are plenty of positives. It’s a young side, and there will be a lot of learnings. When I came into the squad, seniors helped us a lot; now it’s our job to do the same. We need to guide them, create game plans, and go back to basics, which I still do every time I play here. I’ve had great memories here — from the SCG to Perth. I love playing here and hope to continue doing what I do," he added.
Rohit named as POTS
Rohit made a brilliant return to international cricket and finished as the top run-getter in the Australia ODI series. He scored a total of 202 runs in three matches, including a half-century and century each. Though the 38-year-old began the series with a poor inning of 8 runs, he followed that up with a fine knock of 73 runs before smashing a hundred in the final game.
