India opener and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana broke a plethora of records during her 124-run knock against Hong Kong, China in Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 match on September 3 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Mandhana broke the record for most runs in women’s international cricket held by Mithali Raj with 10,868 runs. She did in a dramatic fashion, hitting three consecutive sixes. She now has 18,880 runs in her international cricket career.
This was Mandhana’s 18th century of her international cricket career. She surpassed former Australia captain Meg Lanning and South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt to achieve the record.

Mandhana scored her second T20I century. She is the first Indian to achieve the feat. Apart from her, only skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has a century in T20Is.
Mandhana broke the record for the highest score in Women's T20 Asia Cup history. The record previously was in possession of Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu who scored an unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in the last edition. Before Mandhana, Mithali came close to a century in 2018 edition. She remained unbeaten for 97 against Malaysia.
Mandhana also broke the record for most sixes by an India batter in women T20Is. Since ball-by-ball data is available, Harmanpreet has 89 sixes in her T20I career. Mandhana smashed seven sixes in her knock and has 95 sixes. She needs five more to join Athapaththu, New Zealand's Sophie Devine and West Indies' Deandra Dottin in the list of batter with 100 or more T20I sixes.
Smriti lauds opposition bowlers for slower balls ploy
“I didn’t know all of this happened,” Smriti reacted to broadcaster telling her the list of records she broke.
She lauded the Hong Kong, China bowlers for the way they bowled to her in powerplay overs.
“It's really hard for me to play slower bowlers, but credit to them. They were really disciplined in the powerplay. They bowled pretty well, and the kind of energy they showed was something which we all can learn from. Having said that, I just love batting, and I’m happy that I could contribute,” she added.
She faced 64 balls to score 124 runs. In addition to seven sixes, she hit 14 fours as well. She was run out on the third ball of the final over after a mix-up with Bharti Fulmali.
