South Africa's Jordan Hermann scripted history in the ODI series opener against Namibia on September 9. Jordan scored 150 and equalled the record for highest score on ODI debut. Jordan scored 150 runs from 126 balls to join South African teammate Matthew Breetzke.
Last year, Breetzke broke the long-standing record for highest score on ODI debut. Against New Zealand in an ODI series on Pakistan soil, Breetzke scored 150 runs from 148 deliveries. But, his 150-run knock ended in vain as New Zealand's Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 133.

Before Breetzke, the record belonged to West Indies' Desmond Haynes with 148 against Australia in 1978.

Jordan is the 19th batter in the history of ODI cricket to score a century on debut. He is also the fifth Proteas batter to achieve the feat. Colin Ingram (124), Temba Bavuma (113) and Reeza Hendricks (102) are the other South Africans to score a ton on their respective ODI debuts.
Jordan accelerates after cautious start
In the ODI series opener, Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and opted to bowl first. Connor Esterhuizen fell to Ruben Trumpelmann for a 19-ball 10. Jordan batted with patience and got to his half-century from 61 balls. A few overs later, Tony de Zorzi completed his half-century. Jordan accelerated and reached three figures in the 31st over from 93 balls.
Jordan misses breaking Breetzke’s record
After the drinks break, the partnership was broken by Erasmus with De Zorzi's wicket. The southpaw scored 72 runs from 84 balls, including seven fours and a six. In the 38th over, Jordan went berserk, hitting Jack Brassell for a six and three consecutive fours. In the 42nd over, he reached 150 from 125 balls. He had a chance to break Breetzke's record but Trumpelmann dismissed him in the same over. His knock featured 17 fours and three sixes.
Bosch finishes it in style
In the 44th over, Trumpelmann struck twice to dismiss Dewald Brevis and Rubin Hermann. Brevis fell for a 28-ball 33. Returning from injury, Jason Smith scored 15 runs from 13 balls. Corbin Bosch's unbeaten 24-ball 39 laced with one four and three sixes helped South Africa post 348/6.
