Indian Test team might have suffered a 7-wicket defeat against South Africa in the second Test match, played in Johannesburg but in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, team India managed to retain their fourth spot.
Indian team are currently at fourth spot with 55.21 percentage of points (PCT) and 53 points. India had to suffer a loss of 9.07 PCT due to their defeat against South Africa in the second Test. Team India have secured four wins and two defeats from their six Test matches.
Huge progress for the Proteas
South Africa on the other hand, made a huge progress in the World Test Championship points table. The Dean Elgar-led side were at eighth spot before the commencement of the second Test against India and now after the convincing victory against KL Rahul’s men, the Proteas find them at fifth spot with 50 percentage points. Coincidentally, this victory against India, is the first win for the Proteas in the World Test Championship cycle.
India under the leadership of Virat Kohli made a terrific start to their South Africa tour, after they won the first Test by 113 runs. But in the second Test, the hosts made a brilliant comeback as they managed to win the second match. A seven-wicket victory in the second Test match meant that the Rainbow Nation will get a chance to win the series as both the countries are scheduled to face each other in the third Test starting on January 11, in Cape Town.
Table-toppers Aussies
Australia and Sri Lanka are the only two teams who are still unbeaten in the current cycle. Australia are currently leading the points table with100 percentage of points and three victories. Their outstanding form in the Ashes Test series has helped them in securing the top spot.
Sri Lanka on the other hand, are currently at second position with 100 percentage of points as well but their total point is 24 which is 12 less than the table-toppers Australia. Sri Lanka till now have played two Test matches and managed to win both their games. Their 2-0 victory in the home Test series against West Indies, played in November-December helped them in having a superb run of form.
