A week after the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 final win high, Jemimah Rodrigues put on the blue jersey for Brisbane Heat as she played their Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2025 opener on November 9. Before playing for Brisbane Heat, she had made a witty comment about her concern over whether Australia would allow her to cross the border after an unbeaten century in record-breaking semifinal run chase against Alyssa Healy's Brigade. Responding to Jemimah’s comments, Australia batter Beth Mooney said that she was concerned whether the immigration will let them in or not after the semifinal defeat.
“We heard Jemi say earlier that she was worried they weren’t going to let her in the country because they beat us, but I actually thought they weren’t going to let us back in for losing. Thankfully immigration let me in,” Mooney said on the player mic during Perth Scorchers’ clash against Sydney Sixers on November 9.
Here’s what Jemimah had said -
“I was not sure if Australia would allow me to cross the border after the semifinals. But honestly, everyone has been so warm and welcoming, and everyone is so happy in general for the growth of women’s cricket. We know that it’s going to change the game massively, not just in India but all over the world,” the 25-year-old said.
Jemimah’s dull return to field
Jemimah got to the opportunity to bat at no.3 for Brisbane Heat after Melbourne Renegades captain Georgia Wareham won the toss and opted to bowl first. Jemimah walked out to bat in the fourth over. She scored just six runs from nine balls and fell to England's Alice Capsey in the ninth over. Her team managed to set a target of 134. Sydney Sixers got a revised target of 66 from eight overs. They chased it down with seven wickets in hand and three balls to spare.
Jemimah vs Mooney in Brisbane’s home game
Jemimah will be back in action against Sophie Devine-led Perth Scorchers on November 12. Scorchers did not get off to a good start. After Mooney departed for a 14-ball 20, they were bowled out for 109 in 19.3 overs. Ashleigh Gardner starred with a five-wicket haul and Sydney Sixers chased down the target with 10 wickets in hand and 7.1 overs to spare.
