Wriddhiman Saha has revealed the journalist's name to the three-member committee setup by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to investigate threatening messages sent to the Indian wicketkeeper-batter for not agreeing to give an interview. In an exclusive interaction with Sports Tak, one of the members of the three-member committee revealed that recommendations will be given soon to BCCI to take action against the journalist.
“An inquiry committee has been constituted after a tweet was brought in public domain by Wriddhiman Saha and the player had also made a complain to BCCI. On that basis, BCCI has taken the cognizance, constituted a committee comprising of me, Mr. Arun Dhumal and Mr. Bhatia,” Shukla said.
“Today, Wriddhiman Saha has appeared before the committee and recorded his statement.. Now, the committee will give its recommendations to the BCCI to take a view or to take a decision.. Recommendations will be given shortly.. The Scope of the committee is only limited to his tweet,” the 62-year-old added.
Earlier Saha told Sports Tak, "I have given all the details to BCCI and I didn't hide anything. The final decision will be taken by the board and the committee."
The name of the journalist is yet to be revealed. Last month, Saha shared a screenshot of text messages from the journalist who was not happy with the Bengal-born cricketer not giving him an interview.
"After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so-called 'Respected' journalist! This is where the journalism has gone," Saha had tweeted.
Before the controversy took centrestage, Saha was dropped from India’s Test squad for the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka at home. Saha expressed his disappointment and revealed his conversation with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly after he scored a half-century against New Zealand in Kanpur Test last year. Also, Saha revealed that head coach Rahul Dravid told him that the team management is looking beyond him in the red-ball format.
