The first-ever Men’s Hundred auction took place on Thursday at London’s Piccadilly Lights, with several young, uncapped England cricketers going under the hammer.
James Coles emerged as the most expensive player of the auction after being picked by London Spirit for a huge GBP 390,000 (around Rs 4.81 crore). Jordon Cox, last season’s MVP, was snapped up by Welsh Fire for GBP 300,000 (roughly Rs 3.69 crore).
The first overseas player to be bought was South Africa’s star batter David Miller, who joined Southern Brave for GBP 110,000 (about Rs 1.35 crore). Meanwhile, Aiden Markram, the Proteas T20I captain, was picked by Manchester Super Giants for GBP 200,000 (around Rs 2.46 crore).
