Theft at Yuvraj Singh's Panchkula home, gold jewellery, heavy cash stolen; mother names two suspects

Theft at Yuvraj Singh's home: A burglary involving the theft of cash and jewelry has been reported at former India's star Yuvraj Singh's mother Shabnam Singh's home, located in MDC Sector 4, Panchkula. The incident, which saw the loss of Rs 75,000 in cash and various jewelry items, has cast suspicion on the domestic staff working there.

Yuvraj's mother names prime suspects

 

Shabnam Singh, Yuvraj Singh's mother, pointed out that the housekeeper, Lalita Devi from Saketdi, and the cook, Sildar Pal from Bihar, were suspected of being involved in theft. She mentioned that she had been living at their other home in Gurgaon since September 2023. Upon her return to the MDC residence on October 5, 2023, she noticed that jewelry worth about Rs 75,000 and other valuables were missing from a cupboard on the first floor. Despite her attempts to personally investigate the incident, she could not find any clues. It was observed that Lalita Devi and Sildar Pal had suddenly quit their jobs and disappeared around the Diwali festival.

 

FIR lodged


An FIR has been filed against the accused. Currently, the MDC police station has recorded a theft case and initiated an inquiry. As per the FIR, items valued at Rs 1.75 lakh in total have been reported stolen.

Sourav Ganguly too encountered theft 

 

Similar instance happened with former India captain Sourav Ganguly when a theft took place at his residence few days back. The matter was brought to attention after Ganguly lodged a complaint at the Thakurpukur police station on Saturday, 11 February. In his report, he highlighted concerns over personal information stored on the stolen phone and requested the police to take steps to avoid any potential misuse of the information.


Sourav Ganguly was not at home during the theft. He mentioned that he had securely placed his phone within his residence, only to find it missing later. The occurrence coincided with some painting work being carried out at his home, leading to suspicions that the painters might be involved, potentially facing police interrogation.

In a letter addressed to the officer in charge of the Thakurpukur police station on Saturday, Ganguly disclosed that his cell phone had vanished. He recalled last spotting the device around 11:30 am, and despite extensive searching, it remained unaccounted for.
