India entered the U19 Women's T20 World Cup Super Sixes undefeated after defeating Sri Lanka by 60 runs on Thursday. After defeating the West Indies to begin their campaign, Niki Prasad's team crushed Malaysia by ten wickets and then overcame Sri Lanka. India finished first in Group A with six points and a net run rate of +5.035, their third consecutive victory.

India could only post 118

India achieved a respectable score of 118 for the loss of nine wickets after being asked to bat first. Despite missing short on a half-century, their best batter was Gongadi Trisha, who found her form against Malaysia. After Pramudi Methsara bowled a double wicket-maiden in the fourth over, G Kamalini and Sanika Chalke left cheaply, causing India to have a poor start. Then play was stopped by rain, although no overs were lost.

Before Aseni Thalagune took her wicket, captain Niki Prasad scored eleven runs. Trisha looked good as she scored 49 runs off 44 balls with five fours and a six. However, she was dismissed against the run of play by Manudi Nayanakkara. Mithila Vinod gave things a boost with a rapid 16-run knock off 10 balls after Trisha was out. India approached the near 120-run mark later in the innings when VJ Joshitha hit Rashmika Sewwandi for a six and a four. Limansa Thilakarathna, Thalagune, and Methsara each took two wickets.

Indian bowlers steal show

India cut Sri Lanka to 26 for five in the powerplay, giving them a terrible start to their run-chase. On one occasion, the Islanders were actually at 12 for 5 in 4.2 overs. Joshitha got rid of Sanjana Kavindi and Hiruni Hansika, whereas Shabnam Shakil got rid of Sumundu Nisansala and Dahami Sanethma.
