Ayush Mhatre-led India Under-19 produced a dominant performance to beat Malaysia by a massive 315 runs in the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 at Dubai. Abhigyan Kundu's double century, followed by a five-wicket haul from Deepesh Devendran, helped the Men in Blue to remain unbeaten in the tournament.
India won all three of their group matches and finished at the top of Group A, and on the other hand, Malaysia are still looking for their first win.
India's batting vs Malaysia
After being asked to bat, India recovered well from early setbacks and piled up a huge 408 for 7 in 50 overs. The star of the innings was Abhigyan Kundu, who played a remarkable knock and wrote his name into the record books. He became the first Indian batter and only the second player overall to score a double century in Youth ODIs.
Ayush Mhatre failed to perform
India lost captain Ayush Mhatre early for 14 off seven balls, followed soon by Vihaan Malhotra, who made seven. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vedant Trivedi then steadied the innings. Suryavanshi scored a quick 50 off 26 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes, while Trivedi played a composed knock of 90 off 106 balls. When Suryavanshi was dismissed in the 11th over, India were 87 for three.
Abhigyan Kundu's double ton
Kundu walked in at that point and started attacking straight away. He put on a huge 209-run partnership with Trivedi, facing 181 balls together. Later, he added another 87 runs in just 36 balls with Kanishk Chouhan to push India past the 400 mark.
The left-hander reached his fifty in 44 balls and his century in 80 balls. He then accelerated further and brought up his double century in just 121 balls. Kundu remained unbeaten on 209, striking 17 fours and nine sixes.
His knock helped India set a target of 409 and broke Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing Indian Under-19 record of 177 not out. The only other player to score a double century in Youth ODIs is South Africa’s Jorich Van Schalkwyk, who made 212 earlier in 2025.
Malaysia's batting collapse
In reply, Malaysia failed to get a good start and were bowled out for just 93 in 32.1 overs. Hamzah Panggi was the top scorer with 35 off 52 balls, including four boundaries. Deepesh Devendran led the bowling with five wickets for 22 runs in seven overs, while Udhav Mohan picked up two wickets.
