Vaibhav Suryavanshi lights up Asia Cup Rising Stars with 32-ball ton
Suryavanshi's feat ranks as the joint-second-fastest T20 century ever hit by an Indian batsman. The record for the fastest T20 hundred by an Indian is currently shared by Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma, both of whom breached the three-figure mark in an astonishing 28 balls.
Earlier, the 14-year-old batting prodigy from Bihar, tonked a 35-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025.
Fastest T20 century by Indian batters:

2. Abhishek Sharma - 28 balls for Punjab vs Meghalaya in Saurashtra in 2024
3. Rishabh Pant - 32 balls - Delhi vs Himachal Pradesh in Delhi in 2018
4. Vaibhav Suryavanshi - 32 balls - India A vs UAE in Doha in 2025*
After the team elected to bat first, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's opening partner, Priyansh Arya, was dismissed early. However, this loss did not seem to deter Suryavanshi, who continued to connect powerfully and effortlessly smash the ball out of the ground. He reached his half-century at a rapid pace, needing only 17 balls. He then scored the next 50 runs off just 15 additional deliveries, completely overwhelming the hapless UAE bowlers with his explosive hitting.
In the midst of this whirlwind innings, the 14-year-old prodigy displayed incredible dominance by hitting Harshit Kaushik for a staggering 30 runs in a single over, an onslaught that included four sixes and one four.
Suryavanshi's incredible innings eventually came to an end when he was dismissed for 144 runs off just 42 deliveries. During his time at the crease, he finished with a remarkable tally of 15 sixes and 11 boundaries. The young batter from Bihar was operating on a completely different level, easily overshadowing his peers, including Priyansh Arya, captain Jitesh Sharma, and Nehal Wadhera. He single-handedly tore into the UAE bowling attack, leaving them clueless on how to stop the Indian batting sensation.
His score of 144 also entered the record books as the fourth-highest individual score by an Indian in T20 cricket. The only scores higher than his are: Tilak Varma's 151 (67 balls), Shreyas Iyer's 147 (55 balls), and Punit Bisht's 145 (51 balls). India entered the Rising Stars Asia Cup with a power-packed squad, featuring an array of rising IPL stars, including Suryavanshi himself. While the tournament traditionally fields U-23 players, the selectors made an exception for this edition and included established names like Jitesh Sharma in the squad.
