At this point, nothing seems to be going Babar Azam's way, as the right-handed batter was visibly upset after being asked why he can't finish matches like Virat Kohli. The star Pakistan batter played a decent knick of 43 runs off 37 balls against Hyderabad Kingsmen and set up Peshawar Zalmi for a win in the Pakistan Super League but failed to finish the game by himself, which led to a lot of heat at the post match-conference.
Reporter Grills Babar Azam with Virat Kohli comparisons
In the post-match conference, a reporter took a shot at Babar Azam by raising a pointed question, drawing comparisons with star India batter, Virat Kohli.
"Virat Kohli comes with the same shot of game as you, but he finishes the match, which you lack. People compare him with you. What are your views on the comparison?" the reporter asked Babar Azam.
Upon hearing the question Babar appeared visibly upset and responded with a lot of frustration, urging the media to end his comparisons with Virat Kohli. He also made a case for himself, saying that he has finished a lot of games in the past.
"Let these things to yourself. End the comparison and carry on. It's your misconception that I have not finished matches," replied Babar Azam.
Babar Azam's horrific performance in ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Babar Azam was picked in Pakistan's squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where could not perform as per the expectations, scoring only 91 runs at an average of 22.75 and a poor strike rate of 112.34, eventually he lost his place in the playing XI in the later stages of the tournament.
In PSL 2026, Babar Azam has failed to bat with an impressive strike rate as he scored 39 off 28 against Rawalpindiz and 43 off 37 against Hyderabad Kingsmen. However, despite Peshawar Zalmi securing wins in both matches, questions around Babar’s slow strike rate continue to persist.
