Watch: Pakistan women cricketers involved in funny run out against Australia, run towards same end

Pakistan cricketers have often got involved in run outs that have tickled the funny bone of cricket fans around the world. The most recent one took place in Australia as Pakistan women’s team started their tour on January 16.

The incident took place in the 31st over of Pakistan's innings at Allan Border Field, Brisbane. Alana King bowled one on the stumps and Nida Dar went on the back foot to play it towards short cover. The Aussie skipper Meg Lanning stopped the ball sliding and threw it back to the wicketkeeper Beth Mooney.

Nida took the risk of sneaking a non-existent signal. The non-striker Kainat Imtiaz took the start and did not make the early call to deny the run. The two batters found themselves at the same end trying to save their wicket as Mooney took off the bails at the striker’s end.

Initially, Nida felt that she got out and started walking back to the dressing room. However, replays showed that that Kainat did not make her ground before Nida. She scored just two runs from 15 deliveries before getting run out.

Nida went on to scored 59 runs from 88 deliveries including five fours and one six. The 36-year-old got out in the final over of rain-curtailed 40 overs per side game. The experienced campaigner's 11th ODI half-century helped Pakistan post 160/8 after Lanning won the toss and opted to field first.

Nida could not do much damage with the ball as she conceded 24 runs from three overs she bowled. Hosts Australia chased down the target of 158 (DLS method) with plenty of overs to spare despite the wicket of opener Mooney in the first over to Diana Baig.

Teenager Phoebe Litchfield remained not out for 78 and shared a 137-run partnership for the second wicket with Lanning. This was also Lanning's first game after she took an indefinite leave due to personal reasons last year. Lanning scored 67 runs from 76 deliveries including nine fours. The 30-year-old also became the third Australian women batter to complete 4,500 runs in ODI cricket.
