Manchester Originals batter Phil Salt completed a terrific one-handed catch during the side's clash against the Trent Rockets in The Hundred. Salt, who is regarded as a brilliant fielder, lived up to his reputation and took a blinder in the match that was held on Wednesday.
It all happened on the 48th delivery of the Rockets' inning where Max Holden, tried to chip Josh Tongue's ball towards mid-off. However, the batter would fail in doing so as Salt's razor-sharp reflexes saw him dive twowards his right and somehow complete the catch one-handed. Not only did the crowd erupt, but the commentators were also left in awe of Salt. The blinder will definitely go on to be counted as of the best catches of the season.

Meanwhile, despite the magnificent catch, it didn't turn out to be a great day for Salt and the Originals as the side ended up being defeated by comprehensively by the Rockets with a 7-wicket margin. After being asked to bat first, the Originals had a disastrous start as they lost opener Ben McKinney to David Willey on the fourth delivery of their innings. Things would soon go from bad to worse for the side as they lost both Jos Buttler and Rachin Ravindra on the 25th and 26th delivery respectively.
Salt would eventually depart back to the dugout on the 61st ball after scoring 19 runs. Lewis Gregory's cameo of 33 runs from 21 deliveries wasn't able to save the Originals as they could only manage to post a total of 98/8 after the end of 100 deliveries. Willey finished with three scalps while both Rehan Ahmed and Sam Cook took two each as the Rockets capped off a fine bowling display.
In reply, despite the cheap dismissals of Joe Root and Tom Banton, the Rockets went on to easily chase down the total thanks to valiant knocks from Rehan (45*) and Tom Moores (22*). The side registered an easy victory with 26 deliveries left to spare and moved up to the second spot on the standings with 16 points from 5 matches. On the other hand, the Originals have now dropped down to the sixth place with only 8 points from 6 matches.
