A rare incident unfolded during Big Bash League 2024-2025's 31st match which saw Adelaide Strikers locking horns with Brisbane Heat on January 11, Saturday. While bowling, Liam Haskett conceded a six to Nathan McSweeney, which was brilliantly caught by none other than his own father, Lloyd Haskett, in the stands.
Liam Haskett hit for a six, father catches ball in stands
The incident took place in the fourth over of the second innings. McSweeney powerfully struck the ball towards deep mid-wicket, sending it soaring into the crowd. To the astonishment of everyone, Liam's father, who was watching from the stands, expertly caught the ball with a reverse cup. After securing the catch, he immediately threw the ball back onto the field, seemingly unimpressed that his son had been hit for a six.
Liam Haskett's Big Bash League debut was a mixed bag. He conceded 43 runs in his three overs, although he did manage to claim two wickets, dismissing Michael Neser and Tom Alsop. Despite Haskett's expensive spell, the Adelaide Strikers emerged victorious, defeating the Brisbane Heat by 56 runs. The Heat were bundled out for 195 runs in 20 overs.
Nathan McSweeney led the Brisbane Heat's scoring with a 43-run knock off 24 balls, including four fours and a six.
