India will play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in August

However, there is no clarity on the window for India vs Sri Lanka T20I series

The window for India's upcoming tour of Sri Lanka has officially been revealed. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Team India is scheduled to play a two-match Test series in the second half of August. These matches will be a crucial part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle.

India vs Sri Lanka Test series in August

This year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faces a relatively light Test calendar. Following the conclusion of the IPL 2026, India will first host Afghanistan for a single, non-WTC Test match. After that, the national team, led by Shubman Gill, has only two away Test tours lined up for the remainder of the year: the August series in Sri Lanka and a subsequent two-Test tour of New Zealand in November.

While the exact match dates have not been formally announced, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the BCCI have reportedly finalized a two-week window between August 15 and August 27 for the Test series. The matches are set to begin almost immediately after the Lanka Premier League (LPL), which concludes with its final on August 8 and a reserve day on August 9. However, while the Test window is locked in, clarity regarding any potential T20I matches for the tour remains up in the air.

No clarity over IND vs SL T20Is

According to a report by Cricbuzz, all key stakeholders, including the Indian team management—have already been briefed on the tentative timeline for the upcoming tour. However, uncertainty still looms over the fate of the three scheduled T20Is. These short-format matches were originally proposed as fundraiser fixtures to support the victims of last year's Cyclone Ditwah. Unfortunately, fitting these extra games into India’s already packed white-ball calendar is proving to be a major logistical challenge for the BCCI.

Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia is currently in Sri Lanka as part of an ICC delegation. This visit follows the Sri Lankan government's recent decision to dissolve the existing Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) administration and replace it with an interim Transformation Committee. While Saikia's presence offers a prime opportunity to discuss the feasibility of the fundraiser T20Is, no final decision has been made as of now.
