Jaiswal falls early but Sarfaraz-Rahane guide Mumbai home

In the run chase of 217, Jaiswal was not at his attacking best like he did with a century against Haryana a few days ago. He hit three fours in his 16-ball 15 and got out caught and bowled to Ashok Sharma.

In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane's unbeaten 41-ball 72 and Sarfaraz Khan's 22-ball 73 helped Mumbai win by three wickets. Despite the win, Mumbai could not make it to the final of SMAT 2025.

Will Jaiswal return for Vijay Hazare?

Jaiswal was expected to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 starting on December 24 against Sikkim. It is not clear whether Jaiswal will be fit to return for the first game. All seven group stage matches of the 50-over domestic tournament will take place before the limited-overs series against New Zealand next year which is scheduled to start on January 11.

It is not clear whether Jaiswal will retain his place in the squad despite scoring his maiden ODI century against South Africa in the series decider. With Shubman Gill returning after recovering from a neck injury, Jaiswal may sit on the sidelines again. Similarly, he is unlikely to be picked for the T20I series against the BlackCaps ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
