In what came as devastating news on December 30 (Friday) morning, star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained brutal injuries in a horrific car accident. Pant was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee when his car hit a divider at Narsan border, leading to serious injuries to the Indian cricketer. The accident occurred around 5:15 am on December 30.

Currently, the 25-year-old is being treated in a private hospital in Dehradun. Looking at the risk of infection, the Indian cricketer has been shifted to a private room while his condition is 'stable' and he is 'recovering'. The news of Pant's car accident sent shockwaves across the country and people from all walks of life are now praying for his speedy recovery.

Former India captain and legendary all-rounder, Kapil Dev recently reacted to Pant's car crash in an emotional manner and reflected on the time when he was involved in a 'motorcycle accident' while he also underlined the importance of hiring a 'driver'.

"This is a learning. When I was still an up-and-coming cricketer, I faced a motorcycle accident. From that day onwards, my brother didn't even let me touch the motorbike. I'm just thankful to god that Rishabh Pant is safe," the World Cup-winning captain told ABP News.

"Yes, you have a good-looking car with great speeds but you have to be careful. You can easily afford a driver, you don't have to drive it alone. I understand that one has hobbies or even passion for such things, it's natural to have it at his age, but you also have responsibilities. Only you can take care of yourself. You have to decide things for yourself," Kapil Dev added.

According to a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant sustained several injuries in the accident.

"Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment," BCCI had said in a release on Friday.

The wicketkeeper-batter is likely to be sidelined for a few months as the extent of his injuries are still being evaluated by the doctors.
