The previous record of 358 was set by Yuvraj Singh against Bihar in Cooch Behar Trophy 2024 final.

Prakhar Chaturvedi made headlines with an unbeaten 404-run knock against Mumbai.

On January 15, 2024, Karnataka opener Prakhar Chaturvedi scored a quadruple century in Cooch Behar Trophy 2024 final against Mumbai. Chaturvedi broke legendary Yuvraj Singh’s 24-year-old record for the highest score in Cooch Behar Trophy final with his unbeaten 404. A day later, India’s T20 and ODI World Cup-winning all-rounder reacted to Chaturvedi breaking his record.

“Very happy to see this! Records are meant to be broken and I'm glad to see the future of Indian cricket in safe hands,” Yuvraj wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Chaturvedi scored 404 not out and helped his side post a gigantic total of 890/8 on the board batting second at KSCA Navule Stadium, Shivamogga. The match ended in a draw but Karnataka won the match on the basis of first innings lead.

The previous record helped by Yuvraj was created in 1999 against Bihar which featured former Indian captain MS Dhoni. Yuvraj smashed Bihar bowlers all around the park and scored 358 runs featuring 40 fours and six sixes at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur.

Chaturvedi shared four century-plus partnerships including a 290-run stand with Harshil Dharmani who scored 169 runs. However, it was Samarth N who turned out to be the perfect partner for Chaturvedi to break Yuvraj's record. The two batters shared an unbeaten 173-run partnership for the ninth wicket.

Karnataka batting lineup also included Samit Dravid, son of head coach Rahul Dravid. Samit could not capitalise and scored 22 runs from 46 deliveries. Opener Karthik SU, Karthikeya KP and Hardik Raj were the other three batters to score a half-century.

Earlier, Mumbai posted a total of 380 from 113.5 overs. Opener Ayush Mhatre's 145 starred with a 145-run knock. Middle-order batter Ayush Sachin Vartak was the only other batter to register a fifty-plus score. For Karnataka, Hardik was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up a four-wicket haul from 31.5 overs including seven maidens.
