Hyderabad all-rounder T Ravi Teja registered the best bowling figures in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament with six wickets for 13 runs to bowl out Chattisgarh for 97 and help his side win the match by six wickets. Teja broke Services' Deepak Punia's record of 6/14 against Haryana created in the 2015 edition of the domestic T20 tournament.
After Tilak Varma won the toss and opted to field first at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Teja bowled with the new ball and got the wicket off the first ball. Shashank Chandrakar, Chattisgarh skipper Amandeep Khare, and Harpreet Singh were dismissed by Teja in the first over. In his third over during the powerplay overs, he got the wicket of Sanjeet Desai as well. Chattisgarh lost half their side for 37 in the eighth over.
Shashank Singh carried the team on his back with a 51-run knock. In the penultimate over of the innings, Teja got the ball again. He dismissed Shashank and tailender Sourabh Majumdar to break the eight-year-old record. Chattisgarh were bowled out for 97 with five balls left in the innings. Chama Milind and Tanay Thyagarajan took two wickets each as well.
In the run chase, Hyderabad top order batters Tanmay Agarwal, Rohit Rayudu, and Tilak got off to decent starts but could not go on to get big scores. In the 16th over, Chandan Sahani departed after scoring 25 runs from 22 balls.
Gahlaut Rahul Singh scored 25 runs from 33 balls to help Hyderabad get over the line with six wickets in hand and four overs to spare.
This was Hyderabad's third win on the trot. Hyderabad are placed second on the Group A points table below Mumbai have three wins in the tournament as well and a superior net run rate (NRR). Hyderabad will take on Mizoram at the same venue on October 21.
On the other hand, this was Chattisgarh's first loss of the tournament. They have two wins from three games and are placed fourth on Group A's points table.
