The historical achievement came when Arjun Tendulkar officially joined an elite list of cricketers to open both the batting and the bowling in a single T20 match. This significant milestone was reached during a league stage game against Madhya Pradesh. Arjun has recently taken on a new role for the Goa team, where he has been tasked with opening the batting in the T20 format. Although he had been bowling with the new ball in previous matches, he typically bowled the second over. However, against Madhya Pradesh, Arjun stepped up to bowl the very first over of the innings, officially cementing his place in the record books.
In contrast, his father, Sachin Tendulkar, was a full-time opener in T20s but never opened the bowling. The legendary "Master Blaster" had a minimal bowling role in the format, delivering only 93 balls across the 96 T20 matches he played, managing to take just two wickets. Sachin Tendulkar played only one T20 International in his career, featuring in India's first-ever T20I match in 2006. Notably, in 2010, he became the first Indian cricketer to win the Orange Cap, scoring 618 runs that season.
