While Ayush Badoni has been appointed as the captain, Tilak Varma has also found a place in India A's squad for the warm-up matches ahead of the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue will be playing two warm-up matches before the start of the tournament against USA and Namibia. Thei match against the USA is set to be held on February 2 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Other notable inclusions in the squad
The India A team includes many other notable stars including Priyansh Arya, Riyan Parag, Khaleel Ahmed, Mayank Yadav and more. Notably, Tilak will only feature in one out of the two warm-up games that they will play before the T20 World Cup.
Tilak expected to be available for T20 WC
Tilak has been out of action since early January as he had sustained a groin injury that he had sustained while featuring for Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This saw him miss the entire white-ball series against New Zealand.and was at one stage considered to be doubtful for the T20 World Cup. However, he has made an excellent recovery and is now expected to be available for India's entire campaign.
On the other hand, Badoni had recently received his maiden international call-up after Washington Sundar had been ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand. Though he had been included in the Men in Blue's squad for two games in the three-match series, he was never given a chance in the playing XI. It remains to be seen how he performs in the warm-up matches for India A.
