West Indies fast-bowling legend Courtney Walsh has joined Zimbabwe’s support staff as their bowling consultant for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February. Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that Walsh has already started working with the team.
Courtney Walsh's previous stints
Walsh, who became the first bowler in history to take 500 Test wickets, brings vast coaching experience. In the past, he has worked as a specialist bowling coach with the Bangladesh men’s team and also served as head coach of the West Indies women’s side. Last year, he served as a technical consultant for Zimbabwe’s women’s setup.
Walah on his appointment
Speaking after his appointment, Walsh said he is encouraged by what he has seen so far. He believes the team has strong potential if they work together and adjust well to conditions. Walsh added that the variety and balance in Zimbabwe’s bowling attack stood out to him.
