The second semi-final of the T20 World Cup between India and England created history in digital sports viewership. The match recorded a peak of 65.2 million concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, setting a new global record for live digital streaming, according to the ICC.
The high-intensity game, where India defeated England to secure a place in the final, became the most-watched live event digitally across the world. The huge number highlights how strongly cricket continues to attract viewers, especially in the Indian market.
ICC chairman Jay Shah shared the update on X and said the match broke the previous global record for digital viewership.

"Second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has shattered the world record for digital viewership. The match between BCCI and England Cricket registered a peak digital concurrency of 65.2 million viewers on JioHotstar which is the highest for any live event across the world," ICC chairman Jay Shah posted on X.
He said the record shows how major international cricket tournaments are capable of bringing together millions of fans. Shah also appreciated the efforts of the ICC team and broadcast partner JioStar for reaching such a large audience.
"This demonstrates the unparalleled capacity of marquee global cricket to aggregate Indian fans as well as the prowess of my team at the ICC and our partner JioStar in recruiting and engaging fans at scale," Shah wrote.
Calling it a special moment for cricket in the digital age, Shah added that the achievement sets a new global standard in sports broadcasting.
