India’s fast-bowling all-rounder Shivam Dube admitted he was well aware that the Netherlands bowlers would try to outsmart him with slower deliveries in their final group-stage match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Staying prepared for that challenge, Dube delivered a strong all-round performance, scoring a crucial 66 runs and then picking up two wickets to help India seal a 17-run win in their last T20 World Cup 2026 group game.

Known for his ability to clear the ropes with ease, Dube also shared that head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav had asked him to maintain a high strike rate. However, he explained that T20 cricket is all about reading the situation. Dube admitted he couldn’t accelerate immediately, as he felt it was important to wait for the right moment before shifting gears and attacking the bowlers.
"I know all the bowlers are going to bluff me, and are going to bowl slower balls, so I prepared myself. As captain and coach have told me, I have to keep strike rate high. But it also depends on the situation. Today I could not keep the strike rate high (immediately) There was something and I thought this is the time I can go now. Working hard towards bowling. India finished on top of Group A after beating the Netherlands by 17 runs in their T20 World Cup match. Shivam Dube played a big role with the bat, scoring a quick 66 off just 31 balls to help India post 193 for six. Later, Varun Chakravarthy led the bowling effort with impressive figures of three for 14 as India limited the Netherlands to 176 for seven in their 20 overs. It was India’s fourth straight win in the tournament.
