South Africa batter David Miller picked up a suspected groin injury while playing for the Paarl Royals against Johannesburg Super Kings in SA20. He suffered the blow while fielding and walked off the field soon after. The 36-year-old didn't come out to bat for the Royals later during the match as the injury appeared to be serious.
The full extent of Miller's injury isn't known as of yet and he himself hadn't provided much details about it after the match. "I don't know, we'll see tomorrow when I pick up. Obviously not ideal," Miller had said after the match. It remains to be seen if he will feature in the SA20 eliminator where the Royals will once again face the Super Kings on January 22.

Miller only adds to South Africa's injury worries heading into the 2026 T20 World Cup that will commence from February 7. Earlier, Donovan Ferreira was ruled out of the remainder of SA20 due to a fractured shoulder while Tony de Zorzi is still recovering from the hamstring injury that he had picked up in December, 2025. It remains to be seen how many of these players will be fit to play for South Africa in the upcoming tournament.
SA placed in tough group
Meanwhile, South Africa have been drawn in Group D of the T20 World Cup. The likes of Afghanistan, Canada, New Zealand and UAE are the other teams present in the group. The Proteas are scheduled to begin their campaign with the clash against Canada that will be held at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedebad on February 9.
