The alleged incident left Golden Crown hotel senior officials infuriated. They wanted a firm action on the cricketer. However, Pakistan team manager Naveed Cheema took control of the situation. He apologised to hotel management on the player's behalf. In addition, he assured them that a fine will be imposed on the said player and the issue will be dealt with internally.

After the incident, Pakistan evaded another Super 8 loss. After the controversial last delivery, Pakistan managed a narrow five-run win which was not enough to take them to the semifinals. Upon return, the player is set to appear before Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) disciplinary committee. The squad has already reached Pakistan in batches on March 2 and March 3.

Fine on non-performing players, Babar, Shadab and others dropped

Earlier, there were reports of PCB imposing a fine of Rs 50 lakh each on squad members who haven’t performed during the tournament. PCB is yet to confirm or deny the report.

In the aftermath of the T20 World Cup 2026 exit, Pakistan dropped Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah from the ODI squad for Bangladesh tour. For the three-ODI series, they have included six uncapped players -- Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan and Shamyl Hussain. Farhan has been rewarded for a stellar run in T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 383 runs from six innings, including two centuries, breaking Virat Kohli's record for most runs in a single edition of the tournament.
