Following India’s emphatic 61-run victory over Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2026 clash in Colombo, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav celebrated the win in his very own way.
Suryakumar Yadav's 'Har Har Mahadev' post after India vs Pakistan clash trends big
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the skipper shared a selection of match photos with the concise three-word caption, "Har Har Mahadev." The timing of the post held special resonance, as it coincided with the Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri, immediately going viral among fans.
With this latest win, Suryakumar further solidified his leadership credentials, marking his fourth consecutive T20I victory as captain against the arch-rivals. The win was India’s third straight success in the 2026 T20 World Cup, officially securing their place in the Super 8 stage. Suryakumar, who contributed a tactical 32 during the match, continues to maintain a perfect record as skipper in this high-pressure fixture.
The celebrations extended to the rest of the squad as well, with star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy sharing his own tribute on Instagram. Chakaravarthy, who played a key role with the ball, dedicated the historic win to the people of India in honor of Maha Shivratri. His post echoed the sentiment of the captain, blending a milestone sporting achievement with a moment of national cultural significance.
“Any doubts ?!! Dedicating this victory to all the INDIANS on the eve of MAHA SHIVRATHRI !! HAR HAR MAHADEV!!," Chakaravarthy's post read.
India storm into Super 8 after crushing Pakistan
In their high-stakes encounter against Pakistan, India were invited to bat first and managed to post a competitive total of 175/7. While the world’s top-ranked T20I side leaned heavily on a brilliant 77-run blitz from Ishan Kishan, it was a day of extremes for the batting lineup. Despite Kishan's fireworks, three of India’s biggest stars—world No. 1 batter Abhishek Sharma and all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel—were all dismissed for ducks, leaving the middle order to bridge the gap.
Pakistan’s pursuit of the 176-run target never truly gained momentum, as they were dismantled for just 114 runs in 18 overs. India’s bowling attack operated with clinical precision, led by two-wicket hauls from Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel. Supporting roles from Kuldeep Yadav and Tilak Varma, who each picked up a wicket, ensured that Pakistan remained under constant pressure throughout the chase.

This emphatic 61-run victory in Colombo carries significant tournament weight, as it officially makes India the first team from Group A to qualify for the Super 8s. With three consecutive wins, the Men in Blue have solidified their position at the top of the table, maintaining their perfect record in the 2026 campaign.
In contrast, the heavy defeat has left Pakistan’s tournament life hanging by a thread. Having slipped to third place behind the USA on Net Run Rate, they now face a must-win scenario in their final group match against Namibia this Wednesday. Should Namibia pull off an upset, Pakistan would finish below the United States and face an early exit from the World Cup.
