The Suryakumar Yadav-led India are currently facing a lot of criticism after their crushing loss to South Africa in their opening Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India's batting unit has been questioned by the former cricketers and fans, saying that the intent has been missing, and the defeat has made India’s road to the semi-finals far more difficult.
Gautam Gambhir's chat with Abhishek Sharma in team bus
The team now turns its attention to a must-win game against Zimbabwe in Chennai. With so much at stake, changes at the top of the batting order seem possible. Around the same time, a video of the squad’s arrival in Chennai began circulating online. However, Sports Tak doesn't confirm the timeline of this video.

In the clip, head coach Gautam Gambhir is seen sitting inside the team bus with Abhishek Sharma, appearing to have a serious conversation shortly after the team landed. Team management shows support to Abhishek Sharma
Although the team management has continued to support Abhishek, he has struggled to make an impact. Against South Africa, he started confidently during the chase and hit an early boundary that briefly raised hopes. But he could not carry on and was dismissed for 15. India later collapsed and suffered a 76-run defeat.
That loss has increased pressure on the top order at a crucial stage of the tournament. With their semi-final chances now on the line, India reached Chennai on Monday to prepare for their important clash against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on February 26.
