Mhatre mentioned Rohit Sharma in his remarks after the victory

India captain Ayush Mhatre was left thoroughly impressed with Vaibhav Suryavanshi's incredible knock of 175 in the final of the U19 World Cup against England. The teenage batting sensation's innings helped the Men in Blue in posting a humongous total of 411/9 in 50 overs. They later went on to defend it rather comfortably and won the match by a massive 100-run margin.

Mhatre hailed Suryavanshi following India's victory and remarked that the latter is a "fabulous" batter and showcased why he is rated so highly with his knock. The 14-year-old was not only adjudged as the Player of the Match, but also took home the Player of the Series award.

"I can't express my feelings but it's a memorable night for us. The boys have played really well. What goals we set, they executed very well. They played their natural game so I am very happy. [On Sooryavanshi] We have no words for his innings. We know he is a fabulous batsman and he's shown in this match what he can do," Mhatre said after the match.

Mhatre mentions both Rohit and Harmanpreet

Mhatre was also happy to carry forward the legacy of both Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur, who led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title and the 2025 Women's World Cup title respectively.

"We just wanted to carry forward the legacy. Rohit Sharma won the World Cup, Harmanpreet also and now we have won it. No words for the support staff, they way they have hustled for the last many months," Mhatre further said.

India's record-extending title win

This is the sixth time that India have won the U19 World Cup title. They had previously won in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022. The Men in Blue showcased why they are the most successful team in the history of the tournament with their sensational performance in the final. They didn't lose a single game in the competition and won seven matches in a row, asserting clear dominance over the other teams.
