England wicketkkeeper-batter Jos Buttler has made 402 appearances in international cricket and isn't in a mood of slowing down. He has been an important player for the team especially in white-ball cricket for many years. The 35-year-old is vastly experienced, having played 57 Tests, 199 ODIs and 146 T20Is for the Three Lions. He is also featuring for them in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Buttler achieves monumental feat
Buttler, who recently broke James Anderson's record of 401 international matches and became England's record appearance maker, opened up on the achievement and said that it feels "a bit surreal". Despite age catching up to him, the veteran cricketer firmly said that he has no plans to retire anytime soon and wants to play international cricket for as long as he can.
"To have played 400 is awesome. It's a bit surreal. That hunger and desire to play for England is always strong and burns bright. At this age, people do start asking, 'what are you going to do next?' I don't have a clue, but I know that I don't really want to put a timeframe on it," Buttler said in an interview.
"From speaking to a few guys, they say you just know when the time's up and you'll probably wake up one day and just know. I haven't had that moment yet, so I'll just keep going until that comes to me. Once you get in the team, you think it's the best thing ever and you just want it to last forever," he added.
Buttler's immensely successful international career
Buttler has won numerous accolades with the England team and has a brilliant batting record across the three formats. The biggest achievement of his career may very well be the team's triumph in the 2019 ODI World Cup. He scored a crucial half-century in the final against New Zealand and also completed the run-out of Martin Guptill in the Super Over that handed the victory to England at Lord's.
