David Warner did survive the tricky 20-minute session against Stuart Broad on Day 1 of the Ashes 2023 opener but to only become star English pacer's bunny once again on Day 2 at the Edgbaston Test on June 16 (Saturday).

Warner, who is going through a lean patch, yet again became Broad's bunny on Day 2 and ended his 27-ball struggle. The first ball of the 11th over which Broad was bowling proved to be Warner's undoing. Warner was trying to drive the ball towards cover to Broad's full-length delivery which came from around the wicket. But little did Warner knew that the ball will end up taking the inside edge of his bat and hit the leg stump to extend his nightmare against Broad. Seconds after Warner's dismissal, Broad was spotted over the moon in his celebration as he knew what he just did while Warner cursed his luck and took the longest walk towards the pavilion with his head held down.

This was the 15th time when Broad dismissed Warner in the Ashes encounter which initiated in 2013.

Warner's recent struggle included his patchy form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India, in which he amassed just 26 runs in two Tests. Not just that Warner failed to make an impact in the just-concluded World Test Championship final against India in which he notched the scores of 43 and 1 respectively.

Meanwhile, Warner's struggles against Broad is know to everyone. Broad has gotten Southpaw's wicket nine times in England and six on Australian soil. The 15th dismissal of Broad by Warner also made it the third most in the Ashes behind the following:

19 - Glenn McGrath - Michael Atherton
18 - Alec Bedser - Arthur Morris
15 - Hugh Trumble - Tom Hayward

Talking about the match, Broad didn't settle with Warner's dismissal as on the very next ball he grabbed Marnus Labuschagne's wicket, who went for a golden duck to leave Australia struggling for 29/2.

Earlier on Day 1, Ben Stokes in a bold move declared England's innings after piling 393/8. The biggest partnership of their innings was between Root and Jonny Bairstow as the pair added a quick-fire 121. Stokes declared the innings a couple of overs after Root reached his 30th Test hundred and his first against Australia since 2015.
