Australia Test skipper happy with PCB's preparation; but will not force anyone to travel

The Australia are all set to travel to Pakistan after 24 long years. The Aussies had travelled to Pakistan, last time back in 1988.

The Pat Cummins-led side will play three Test matches, three ODIs and one T20I match against Pakistan. The Test is series is scheduled to start on March 7, in Karachi.

Plenty of talks have been going on recently, regarding the security issues in Pakistan. Last year the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had cancelled their Pakistan tour due to mental and physical wellbeing. This decision was announced just three days after New Zealand had also decided not to travel to Pakistan to play cricket. New Zealand took the decision showing security threats.

Happy with PCB

Ahead of the series, skipper Cummins was although happy with the preparations that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken.

“Still a bit to work through … but at this stage it’s all looking really positive. The amount of work the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has put into it is fantastic. It’s shaping up as, I think just about everyone – if not all – will go,” said Pat Cummins as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Previously, multiple players had decided not to take part in a particular series citing mental and physical health. Many players also decided to retire from international cricket in order to spend more time with their family members.

Absolutely fine to decide whatever they wish

The Aussie skipper is in no mood to force anyone to play cricket and travel to particular nation. Cummins feels “it is absolutely fine” if some players choose not to travel.

“If some players need to make a choice, it’s absolutely fine that they won’t be there. Still got a bit of water to go under the bridge, a bit more info to gather and get around to everyone,” explained Cummins.

The Australian team are currently involved in the ongoing Ashes Test series and are leading by a superb margin of 3-0. The fifth and final Test match of the series will start from January 14.
