India defeated England by 100 runs in the final

The BCCI have announced a cash prize of INR 7.5 crore for the Indian side that defeated England in the final of the U19 World Cup by 100 runs on Friday. The Men in Blue finished the tournament unbeaten with seven wins in a row. Their performance in the final was nothing short of sensational as they were by far the better team in both the batting and bowling departments.

Saikia hails Team India

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announced the massive cash prize for the team shortly after their victory in the final. He also lavished praise on the team for going undefeated in the World Cup.

“The whole country and BCCI are proud of our Under-19 side on their Under-19 World Cup 2026 victory. The way our team defeated England in the finals, and how they remained undefeated in the tournament, we are all proud. The BCCI will reward the team with Rs 7.5 crore cash prize,” Saikia told ANI.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi proved to be the star performer for India and played a phenomenal knock of 175 runs from just 80 deliveries to help the team in posting a humongous total of 411/9 on the board after 50 overs. His innings included 15 boundaries and sixes each, helping the Men in Blue in turning the match into a one-sided contest. Alongside Suryavanshi, the likes of Ayush Mhatre (53), Vedant Trivedi (32), Vihaan Malhotra (30), Abhigyan Kundu (40) and Kanishk Chouhan (37*) also contributed well to the team's total.

In reply, India bundled out England for 311 runs and won the match by a massive margin. Caleb Falconer's fine century ended up going in vain as they fell way short of the target. RS Ambrish was the team's top performer with the ball, recording figures of 3/56 while both Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan picked up two wickets each.

India's record-extending title win

The victory saw India once again show why they are the most succeessful team in the history of the U19 World Cup. This was the sixth time that they won the tournament in history. They had previously won the prestigious title in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022.
