Kashi Rudras rode on Bobby Yadav and Atal Bihari-Rai's splendid spells to thrash Meerut Mavericks by seven wickets in and lift the inaugural Uttar Pradesh T20 2023 title on Saturday, September 16.
The atmosphere was electric at Green Park as cricket enthusiasts witnessed a gripping final between the Kashi Rudras and the Meerut Mavericks. In a game that had fans on the edge of their seats, the Kashi Rudras displayed a winning combination of strategic bowling and powerful batting to come out on top.
Taking to the field first, the Meerut Mavericks started their innings on a positive note, showing glimpses of what seemed like a match-winning total. Rituraj Sharma, showcasing his finesse and prowess, emerged as the linchpin for the Mavericks, crafting a well-composed 53 off just 39 balls. Not far behind in the run-fest, Divyansh Joshi dazzled with a fiery knock, amassing 40 runs from a mere 29 balls.
However, the Rudras had different plans in store. Their bowling attack, spearheaded by the formidable duo of Atal Bihari-Rai (3/32) and Bobby Yadav (3/30), was relentless in their pursuit of halting the Mavericks' charge. Both bowlers, with their precision and consistency, clinched 3 wickets each, putting the brakes on the Mavericks' scoring spree and limiting them to a total of 146/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
With 147 runs to win, the Rudras' response was nothing short of spectacular. Leading the charge was Karan Sharma, who executed a masterclass innings, amassing 76 runs off 57 balls. His innings was decorated with 10 boundaries and a couple of maximums, which delighted the spectators. Playing the perfect supporting role, Shiva Singh chipped in with a blistering 30 runs off just 18 deliveries. Demonstrating impeccable timing and shot selection, the Kashi Rudras overhauled the target in the penultimate over, finishing on 150/3.
A special mention goes out to Bobby Yadav, whose extraordinary bowling spell turned the game in favor of the Rudras. Registering figures of 3/30 in his 4-over quota, Yadav's performance was pivotal in shaping the match's outcome.
