Rohit Sharma failed to continue his stellar form in one-day cricket and was dismissed for a golden duck by Uttarakhand pacer Devendra Singh Bora in the second round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Rohit had come into this match after playing a match-winning knock of 155 for Mumbai against Sikkim in the opening round, but failed to even open his account this time around.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Mumbai openers Rohit and Angkrish Raghuvanshi took to the crease. They ended up having quite a poor start to the match as Bora clicnhed Rohit's prized wicket on the final delivery of the first over. The batter tried to play his signature pull shot to try and get off the mark, but mistimed it completely and this led to Jagmohan Nagarkoti taking an easy catch.
Raghuvanshi also heads back for cheap
Raghuvanshi also wouldn't manage to go a lot further and lost his wicket for just 11 runs in the sixth over of the innings, leaving Mumbai on 22/2. The respensibility is now on the shoulders of Musheer and Sarfaraz Khan to form a big partnership and take the side's innings forward into the right direction.
Rohit's blistering performancs vs Sikkim
Meanwhile, Rohit had left everyone impressed with his performance in Mumbai's opening game of the domestic tournament against Sikkim. After being handed a target of 237, Mumbai had began their innings on a fantastic note as openers Rohit and Raghuvanshi formed a strong partnership of 141 runs to ease any sort of pressure.
Rohit was clearly the aggressor among the two and soon went on to reach his century. He then went on to cross the 150-run mark as well before he was finally dismissed by Kranthi Kumar after hitting 18 boundaries and nine towering sixes. The knock massively helped Mumbai in reaching the target with almost 20 overs left to spare and win the match comfortably by 8 wickets.
